“Koehler Cycles” Campaign: Exercise, Health, and a Commitment to the Community All at the Same Time

Through their participation in the “Koehler Cycles” campaign, employees at the Koehler Group raised 12,000 euros for the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V. – a charity based in Freiburg, Germany that works with children suffering from cancer. In a show of dedication, 139 employees cycled a total of 113,980 kilometers last year, which is roughly the equivalent of going around the world three times along the equator. Perhaps even more impressively, every single one of these kilometers was part of a commute.

Every single kilometer counts: Koehler donates five cents per commuting kilometer

The Koehler Group donates five cents for each kilometer cycled, which in 2025 came up to more than 5,600 euros – an amount that was then increased to a solid 12,000 euros by the executive board.

Koehler Group CEO Kai Furler presented Karl Bähr, a member of the Board of Directors at Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V., with the donation. “Koehler Cycles’ is much more than just a wellness campaign for us. It shows the incredible level of commitment that our employees have and is proof of how sustainability is an inseparable part of our company’s culture. But the main thing here is that we’ve supported this children’s cancer charity for years now because we firmly believe in their mission – and every single year, our people continue to demonstrate that a commitment to the community and personal dedication go hand in hand,” says Elke Renz, the Corporate Director of HR & Legal Department at the Koehler Group.

It is worth noting that in addition to its important contribution to the community, the campaign has also had a positive environmental impact: The kilometers covered on bikes represent fuel savings of 17,097 euros and a reduction of 18,237 kilograms of CO₂ – sustainable mobility results that speak for themselves. And, of course, regular cycling is a great way for employees to stay healthy and keep moving every day.
