Koehler Group Apprentices Run Bake Sale for Noble Cause

This year marks yet another instance of the apprentices at the Koehler Group deciding to plan and carry out an activity for a noble cause. Unfortunately, last year’s autumn did not lend itself to making apple juice, interrupting a longstanding tradition as a result. Undaunted, however, the apprentices came up with a creative alternative: They decided to bake a variety of delicious goodies and sell them for a small donation to employees at the Koehler cafeteria at the company’s Oberkirch site. And there was something for everyone, with treats going from home-made Christmas cookies and Linzer tortes, to Zupfkuchen chocolate cheesecake and plum sheet cake, to gluten-free cheesecake. To top it all off, the cafeteria brought its own bit of joy by chipping in with punch.

The bake sale was resoundingly successful, with generous donations coming in at a total of 670 euros. Chairwoman Dr. Martina Bregler of the Förderverein Kinderklinik Ortenau e.V., a nonprofit established to support children and their parents at the Kinderklinik Ortenau children’s hospital, was overjoyed to accept the donations from Koehler’s employees on behalf of her organization. These donations will once again be used to sponsor the work of the hospital clown at the children’s hospital in Offenburg so as to help young patients get better. “We’re tremendously happy to be able to provide children with a brighter and more colorful experience during their stay at the hospital and hopefully boost their spirits a bit as a result,” Koehler Group Head of Training Simone Wölfle underscores.
